We can't seem to get enough of edutech good news and milestones this week!
It was just the other day that Zuck announced that Internet.org and its local telco partner, SMART Communications now offer free internet services for Filipinos - nationwide (you can read it here).
We've mentioned in a post before that in order to put the Philippines at the front of the global e/m-learning scene, we pointed out three must-haves: (you can read the post here)
1. Legislation in providing better and low-cost internet
2. Awareness that e/m-learning exists and is a more cost-effective option
3. Training on tools and approaches
With this giant step from the Philippine government and legistators, we are now more equipped to employ e/m-learning as a teaching/learning method that everyone can use! I know there's still a lot of work to be done, but hey - nothing worth having is ever easy, right?
Here's the report from our friends over at the GMA Network News (it's in Filipino). Cheers!
